The Budget Committee establishes an annual budget based upon the long-term plans of the organization and on the specific budget requests of committees. The Committee is composed of the Association’s Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer and two non-board members. The Committee solicits budget requests from the various committees and prepares an overall budget for review and approval by the SNA Board prior to the end of the prior fiscal year. The budget covers the fiscal year January 1 – December 31 of each year.

The Communications Committee oversees the preparation and distribution of the neighborhood newsletter, oversees the Association website, responds to voicemail and email messages, and handles general marketing issues for the Association. The Sheffield Neighborhood News is published bi-monthly and hand delivered to each household and business in the community. It contains information about upcoming meetings, events, community issues and other pertinent information. The sheffieldneighborhood.org website exists in tandem with the newsletter and includes important information on the history, happenings and helpful hints for the Sheffield community. Both are produced with information gathered from the SNA Board of Directors, our public officials and the City of Chicago to ensure communication of important information to our membership. Input from Association members and neighbors is very welcome.
The Community Safety Committee serves as liaison to government agencies and other organizations concerning the condition and safety of the neighborhood. It works closely with representatives of CAPS (Community Alternative Policing Strategy). The committee also provides crime statistics and safety tips to the community in the Sheffield Neighborhood News.
The Contributions Committee is to accept and evaluate all requests made to the Sheffield Neighborhood Association for donations and to recommend to the Board of Directors which requests should be approved and funded.
The Events Committee oversees and coordinates events, meetings, and related functions to serve the interests and the needs of the Sheffield community. Events include the Concert Series, Movie Night, and the Halloween Party all in Trebes Parkas well as the Spaghetti Dinner, the Sheffield Neighborhood Association Annual Meeting, and periodic social and fundraising events for members and the community.
Provides information to the community regarding neighborhood structures. Conducts architectural tours of Sheffield during the Annual Sheffield Garden Walk & Festival.
Recruits members and collects dues. Maintains lists of voting members and associate members.
Music Festival & Garden Walk

Plans and produces the Annual Sheffield Music Festival & Garden Walk, the Association’s main fundraiser.
Serves as liaisons to schools, businesses, and other institutions in the Sheffield community. Oversees issues such as requests for liquor licenses, sidewalk cafes, valet parking, permit parking, and parking meters.
The Nominating Committee chair and members are selected annually. The committee presents a slate of nominees to the Board of Directors for the annual election and recommends members to fill vacant directorships and offices.
Parks & Beautification
Parks & Beautification committee members oversee maintenance and improvement to Trebes Park and Clover Park. The committee manages the Beautification Program, which includes the hanging light pole banners and surface planter boxes.
The Planning Committee serves as liaison to government, developers, and other community organizations concerning land use affecting the Sheffield neighborhood.
Serves as liaison to schools serving the Sheffield neighborhood which include; Lincoln Park High School, Oscar Mayer Elementary School, St. James Lutheran School, and St. Josaphat School.
