Community Meeting Regarding
Packaged Goods License Application
Monday, April 16, 6:00 p.m.
St. James Lutheran Church
2050 North Fremont Street
Basement Level Community Room

You are invited to join Alderman Michele Smith and the Sheffield Neighborhood Association at a community meeting discussing a “Packaged Goods License” application for the Walgreens at 834 West Armitage Avenue.  A packaged goods license allows the sale of alcoholic beverages in manufacturer sealed containers; however, consuming alcohol on the premise itself is not permitted.  In late January, an initial public meeting was held to discuss this proposed packaged goods application, as well as lifting the liquor moratorium previously installed for this block prior to any applications being submitted.  The legislative process lifting the liquor moratorium was initiated in late February.  Alderman Michele Smith requested Walgreens postpone filing their application until a follow-up meeting could be held soliciting input for a “Plan of Operation, “ which is a legal, regulatory document governing the store’s operations should they receive the requisite approvals for the packaged goods license.  Representatives of Walgreens will be present at this meeting to answer questions from the audience regarding this application request.  Alderman Smith’s office will also be present at the meeting to monitor the discussion, take notes, and record your feedback.  If you are unable to attend or have questions, please email Alderman Smith’s office at yourvoice@ward43.org and the Sheffield Neighborhood Association at info@sheffieldneighborhoodassociation.org
