SNA Committees Seek Members for its Communications, Events, Garden Walk, and Schools Committees.
Communications. The Communications Committee oversees the preparation and distribution of this newsletter, oversees the Association website, and handles general marketing issues for the Association. The Sheffield Neighborhood News contains information about upcoming meetings and events; planning, safety, and neighborhood relations reports; articles regarding community issues; and other pertinent information. The website
www.sheffieldneighborhood.org operates in tandem with the SNN and includes information on meetings and events, Sheffield history, Association projects, and helpful hints for the Sheffield community.
The committee has openings for a photographer/photo archivist and for contributing writers to cover certain beats such as business, children’s activities, and area institutions. If you are interested, please contact Judy Lauth Casey at 773-929-9255 or
sheffieldneighborhoodassociation@hotmail.com.
Events. The Events Committee seeks members to assist in planning and executing SNA events in the Sheffield neighborhood. These include the Trebes Park Concert and Movie Series, the Halloween Party at Oz Park, the annual Spaghetti Dinner, the SNA Annual Meeting, the Patrons Party for the Sheffield Garden Walk, and other social and fundraising events for the community. If you enjoy running hospitality events and showcasing the richness of our neighborhood, please contact Jeanne P. Gray, Events co-chair, at 773-348-7638 or
jpgray@staff.abanet.org.
Garden Walk. The Garden Walk Committee needs Gates Managers to supervise operations at one of the 3 festival Gates. It also needs a Volunteer Manager to coordinate the volunteer database, notify interested volunteers what positions are open, and ensure that volunteers know what time and when and where and to whom they report. This work all is done online. Please contact either Laury Lewis,
lbl1948@yahoo.com or Richard Ashbeck,
rtashbeck@aol.com to help with the SNA’s major fund raiser.
Schools. This Committee seeks members to serve as liaisons with the four neighborhood schools to inform the community about their educational programs and achievements, to engender support for their continued viability and growth, and to showcase their many community-based activities and programs. The Sheffield community is fortunate to have the following excellent schools within its mandate: Lincoln Park High School, Oscar Mayer Magnet School, St. James Lutheran School, and St. Josaphat School. If you are interested in urban education and the richness of student learning, please contact Jeanne P. Gray, co-chair of the Schools Committee, at 773-348-7638 or jpgray@staff.abanet.org.
