The Mayor of the Armitage Brown Line Station and the Queen of Armitage Avenue retires this Friday.
After 32 years of dutiful service to the CTA, 25 years at the Armitage station, Janet Martin calls it a career. Please join the Sheffield Neighborhood Association and RANCH Triangle Association in saying thank you to Janet for caring for us and our local station for so long.
There is no dog, baby or toddler being walked by the Armitage Brown line station who Janet doesn’t know. While each parent, dogwalker, caretaker, adult, and child is always greeted with a loving, “Hey, Honey, How You Doing?” as they race off to start their day. And if you had time before your train, those few minutes in conversation with Janet were always heartfelt. She provided a magical touch to start the work day. We are so fortunate to have had the gift of Janet for a quarter century!
Friday at 2pm, our community comes together with light bites, refreshments and some surprises to repay the love, joy and smiles to the greatest public service employee our transit system has ever seen! Bring the whole family - kids and dogs especially, as they are Janet’s favorites. We are hosting a winter retirement party, block party style, on the plaza for our Queen!
Janet’s family will be in attendance and we invite all of you to stop by to say goodbye to the woman who has made our Armitage station so special!
